Feeding
Proper feeding is one of the most important factors in keeping your animals happy & healthy. Please keep in mind that different animals have varying feeding needs.
- • In nature fish eat continuously. It is better to feed your animals a small amount a couple of times a day rather than over-feeding them once.
- • All food should be consumed within 30 seconds. You should not see food floating or at the bottom of your aquarium. If you find food remnants after
a couple of minutes, you’ve fed your animals too much. - • Uneaten food will decompose and compromise water quality which could make your animals more susceptible to disease.
- • Excessive food will decay and turn into ‘algae food’, causing unwanted algae to flourish.
- • If you miss a feeding do not double up the dose.
How to Feed:
A varied diet is as important to fish as it is to humans. Feeding them a varied diet can help prevent illnesses and lengthen their life span.
Take a small container and add a variety of frozen cubes. Let food thaw for about 5 minutes and feed. Give the cubes a little pinch before releasing it into the water column. This will allow all your animals to eat. Otherwise the more aggressive fish will consume the cubes whole leaving the less aggressive fish at a disadvantage.
